There is an old saying: “People want to see you doing well—just not better than them.” Funny? Yes.  Unfortunately, there is also enough truth hiding inside that joke to make some of us uncomfortable. I want to talk about a virus that has infected the human soul since the inception of our species.  Jealousy is one of those emotions almost everyone experiences, but very few people proudly admit to having. People will readily tell you they are angry, disappointed, frustrated, stressed, or offended. But ask somebody if they are jealous and suddenly you may get a dissertation explaining why they absolutely, positively, unequivocally are not jealous.  That is because jealousy threatens the image we have of ourselves. We want to believe that we celebrate other people's happiness.
